RDA (Rawalpindi Development Authority) recently took yet another step toward making the management and usage of the rainwater better by announcing a rainwater management system compulsory. This step has been taken to store water for energy generation or to use in times of shortage.
Rawalpindi Development Authority clearly announced that, from now on, no housing society will get NOC without a proper and implementable rainwater management system plan.
Further, they added that this enouncement applies to both residential and commercial projects. The director-general of (RDA) Rawalpindi Development Authority has been directed to work RMP in societies. He said it to be implemented as soon as possible so that the rainwater can be utilized instead of getting wasted.
However, it is indeed an environment-friendly step taken by the authority. As we are seeing that more and fresher water reserves are depleting day by day. More usefully, the saved rainwater can be used to make energy, use when shortage, and fulfill the other city’s needs.
The spokesperson also added that mosques need more water. Therefore, the harvested water can be supplied to mosques for ablution purposes. It can be used for irrigation.
Moreover, repurposed water can also be used in other places like service stations, septic tanks, gardening, and much more. The rainwater harvest plan has been presented by the funds provided by Turkey. United Nations Development Program agrees to provide the technical assistance required for rainwater harvest systems and water recycling.
